Current Status
On April 1, 2026, the Office des professions du Québec (OPQ) issued a favorable opinion regarding the integration of kinesiologists into Quebec’s professional system. A few days later, on April 7, 2026, the government announced the launch of work to establish a regulatory framework for the kinesiology profession.
On June 16, 2026, the Government of Quebec announced that the Ordre des ergothérapeutes du Québec (Quebec Order of Occupational Therapists) would serve as the host order for the integration of kinesiologists into Quebec’s professional system. This decision is part of the reform regarding the regulation of health professions and marks the beginning of a transition process overseen by the Office des professions du Québec. A transition committee will be established to define the integration terms and ensure a structured, phased approach that aligns with the goal of public protection.

To mark this pivotal milestone and reaffirm our commitment to a rigorous, collaborative, and transparent transition, the Quebec Kinésiologists Federation, the Ordre des ergothérapeutes du Québec, and the Association des kinésiologues, kinésithérapeutes, orthothérapeutes et massothérapeutes du Québec are issuing this initial communication.
